How the calculation works

  • Petrol cost per km

Petrol price per litre / km per litre

  • EV cost per km

(kWh per 100 km / 100) x electricity price per unit

  • Monthly saving

(Petrol cost per km - EV cost per km) x km per month

  • Payback

Extra price of the EV / monthly saving

Common questions

How do I calculate EV cost per km in Pakistan?

Divide your electricity price per unit by 100 and multiply by the car's kWh per 100 km. For a car using 15 kWh per 100 km at Rs 50 per unit, that is 15 x 50 / 100 = Rs 7.5 per km. Enter your own numbers above for a real result.

How do I calculate petrol cost per km?

Divide the price of a litre of petrol by your car's km per litre. At the notified Rs 346.00 per litre and 12 km per litre, that is about Rs 28.8 per km.

Which electricity price should I use?

For home charging, use the all-in price per unit on your latest bill, including taxes, because your slab and distribution company affect it. For public chargers, use the rate shown by the charging operator. Charging at home overnight is usually cheaper than a public fast charger.

Is the petrol price on this page current?

It is the notified ex-pump price of Rs 346.00 per litre effective 2026-11-07, taken from OGRA data. Pakistan now revises fuel prices often, so edit the field if it has changed.

Does this include battery replacement or servicing?

No. It compares energy cost only. Servicing, tyres, insurance and the purchase price also matter, which is why there is an optional field for the extra price of the EV.
